He then worked at The Den, where he edited for such national brands as Amazon, Geico, FOX Sports, Nissan, Doritos.
Jake is an Emmy award winning editor. He is a graduate of Columbia College. His work has been shortlisted at Cannes, and AICP. He has edited on multiple Super Bowl ad campaigns, enjoyed wins Camp Kuleshov and been featured in AdAge, Variety, and Adweek.
Jake currently lives in Austin with his wife and son, where he can be found lamenting over (another) miserable Cubs season, reading a book about WWII submarines, quoting entire episodes of The Simpsons verbatim, and trying to perfect the art of grilling fall-off-the-bone ribs.
Philosophy
I continue to pursue inspiration in the projects I work on and the people I work with, rather than let an individual style dictate my editorial approach.
When shooting street photography, I am always on the lookout for life's unscripted moments; a quick glance, a shy smirk, or a brief touch of the hand. That mountain will be there tomorrow to get the perfect shot, but those moments are fleeting. And I always have one finger on the shutter ready to capture it. Such is my approach with editing as well. I strive to utilize those magic moments in the footage whenever possible to create a memorable work.
Whether it's a new project to edit, or a chance to step out and take some photos, I am always ready for that next adventure.
